Video Game Beer Coasters!

Hey, I just received 3 of the Doom inspired Video Game Demon Coasters that I made. I originally drew this guy up because a friend of mine wanted to do a video game related mural in his game room, that project has been moving very slow but I plan to give him a coaster to make up for that. Because I feel that beer and video games go together like PB&J I plan on making a bunch more game related coasters soon. If anyone has any requests let me know! If anyone wants to purchase one of these they are only $6.00 over at my shop. They are heavy duty tile coasters with felt underlay so they don’t scratch your table.

Thrift Store Junkie #10

It has been awhile since I have posted anything under the Thrift Store Junkie banner, but the winter where I live means there are no more yard sales and flea markets. This is going to be a quick post as I have yet to play any of the games in the post and there are not that many items this time. I also doubt that I will have much of anything cool to post for Thrift Store Junkie till March or so. Anyway, on to the meat of the post…

I picked up these 3 items at a Goodwill store about a month ago. Spiderman on DVD was $2.00 and the other two games were $3.00. Hard Drivin’ for Sega Genesis is a game that I have always wanted to own. It’s not the best game in the world, but I have a soft spot for all racing games. I remember playing this game in the arcades and loving it to death, it was the closest thing to driving a real car that I was going to get back when I was about half the size I am nowadays. The other game that I picked up was Aladdin for Sega Genesis. Back in the day Disney made some kick ass video games, almost everything they pumped out during the Genesis and SNES days rocked. The animation and sound was always some of the best any 3rd party developer was pumping out. They even put out some good stuff on the PS1, but after that it was hit or miss for them. Some games were good, some not so much. I played a lot of this game when I was young and I can’t wait to try it out again(probably next weekend).

Last weekend I went with my parents to a Goodwill store near their house and my Mom picked me up these two games. I have never played The Godfather or The Sopranos for PS2 but I plan on sitting down with my brother-in-law sometime soon and checking these both out(an hopefully playing through both of them). The Sopranos game was still wrapped and it was only $3! From looking through the instruction manuals and looking at the back of the boxes I am most excited to play The Godfather, but I’m hoping that both turn out to be good games.

Thats it for this update, sorry that it was a little short. I plan to post another Thrift Store Junkie post again in March or later.

Swirl

This week’s If topic is Twirl, I have been drawing quite a bunch of things recently so I thought I would do something quickly for this week. I got Twirl mixed up with Swirl, but they are basically the same thing. My favorite ice cream is vanilla and orange swirl… so I drew one! It’s funny, recently all I have been posting on this site has been related to food in one way or another.

SNOW! (125)

It snowed in Philadelphia last night. Luckily I didn’t have to pull out my snowblower, it was light enough that I just used my shovel. But I fear that in due time this year I will have to use the thing.

Seltzer

My brother-in-law, my wife and I are in the band Seltzer. It’s really just the two of us and anyone else that is around who feels like they want to sing. We have a few songs from our first single titled “Sandwich Single + Sides” over on Mowhawkradio.com.
We have been kicking around the idea of putting out a full album soon and calling it “Real Big Dish”. I sat down and made a cover for the album tonight, it was a good practice for me because I’ve been thinking that I want to do more “Punk Rock”(Or at least what I interpret that to be) style artwork which is something I’ve gotten away from over the past few years. Someone over on my other blog (penandmarker.wordpress.com) referred to this style as grungy, and I’m OK with that too. Basically I just like the idea of simplifying some of my illustration work back down to its most basic elements, and I think I achieved this with this illustration.
Anyway, here is the insert for the album:

Termite (124)

Ewwwwww, termites are so gross. I live in a house with a bunch of my friends years ago that had a major termite problem in the basement, I’m glad I don’t live there anymore.
