All Done! (365)

Wow, I have drawn something new every single day for 365 days for this blog. I loved every minute of it, it was a great experience. I must admit though I am super happy to be done. It frees up my time to work on other illustration and artwork.
I now present to you day 365. I kept it simple and did a banner for completing the project. Since I have been feeling very Halloween inspired as of late I kept with that theme.

I wasn’t sure what to do for day 365 and my friend Pat Woods said I should do a self portrait because people who follow this blog probably don’t know what I look like. Well, my wife had also been pestering me for quite awhile to draw her for this site as well. I always avoided drawing her because I didn’t think I would be able to make her look as beautiful as she looks in life. Well, I failed… she looks so much more amazing than the drawing I drew… but anyway here is a drawing of me and my wife. I couldn’t have finished this project without her support!

I am ready to take a break for a little while. I plan on posting about what I learned through doing this project and maybe a couple other things pretty soon. Please, anyone who wants to continue to follow my illustration/craft/artwork that I create can do so over at Thecrayonwar.com. Now that this project is complete I will be posting quite a bit more than I had been over on that site.
Thanks to everyone who has followed my blog over the past year!

Getting Sad (364)

Besides that shameless self promotion I also finished the fiend skull I had been working on.

I couldn’t get my scanner to pick it up the way I wanted. I think because I already clear coated it with an acrylic spray.
1 more day to go!

Dorky Pumpkin (363)

I can’t stop drawing Halloween stuff! I went to a flea market today and got some stuff for our yearly Halloween party. One of the things I picked up was a bunch of mason jars because I am making gypsy lanterns this year for my backyard. Hopefully I will have a few done by tuesday so I can post them here with one of my drawings. Anyway, here is todays drawing. It is a pumpkin, I have started making Paper Mache jack-o-lanterns and because of that I sketched a few faces for them today. Since I was doing that anyway, I decided to draw one for this blog as well.

I also did a real quick Photoshop color job on it as well. Hope you like it!

Bride of Frankenstein (362)

I’m so ready for Halloween. I’ve been watching horror movies and listening to The Beetlejuice soundtrack, AFI, The Misfits and a ton of other Halloween inspired stuff for the past two weeks. Here is my version of the Bride of Frankenstein.

Oh yeah, and the Misfits skull painting I started working on yesterday has had some more added to it. I started a new one as well. I should have both of these done in the next couple of days but until then here is an in progress picture.

Third Eye Not Blind (361)

Today I drew this skull. I’m already thinking a lot about Halloween and its not even till next month. Well, here is today’s drawing. It was a quick little drawing, but I drew it because I was already working on a skull piece from earlier in the day and I wanted to keep drawing skulls!

Here is what I started working on today, it is a Misfits fiend skull on a piece of a green hardcover book. When it is finished I will post the finished piece as well.

Yeah, and I still have no idea what I’m gonna do for my last drawing. I wanted it to be something huge and epic, but now I’m thinking just the fact that I am going to complete this project is pretty huge in and of itself. Because of that I do have a bit of an idea for something simple and to the point. I can’t wait, 365 days in a row of drawing has been a ton of fun but I’m ready to focus more on other things!

Surf’s Up! (359)

I really wanted to learn to surf this year. But I didn’t. Oh well, there is always next year…or maybe in October if it isn’t too cold.
Anyway, here is a bummed out little surfer dude wearing a Volcom rash guard.

I really wanted to color this guy in but didn’t want to spend a ton of time on him (I’ve got paper mache’ pumpkins and other crafts to make before Halloween). Here is the little guy after about 5 minutes in Photoshop.

Poe (358)

Today I drew two drawings… oh well, I couldn’t help myself!
I read an article today about Poe and a play in Philly about Poe’s final days (Ok, I skimmed it). But it still made me want to draw Poe, and so… I did.

Then I threw the drawing into Photoshop and pooped this out:

I don’t think I’ve ever spent less time in Photoshop on something in my life. This took maybe five minutes tops. Nonetheless I still like it quite a bit!
